The Certification for Sustainable Tourism is a program that seeks to categorize and certify each tourism company according to the degree to which its operations comply with a model of sustainability.
The program evaluates four fundamental aspects:
1. Physical-biological parameters Evaluates the interaction between the company and its surrounding natural habitat. It also evaluates the management policies and the operational systems within the company and its infrastructure, in terms of energy saving, water, pollution and waste handling policies and technology.
2. Service Management. Comprises the process where the company, considering all the internal and external elements, designs a product in accordance with the trends of the market and the proper characteristics of the country.
3. External Client: It evaluates the interaction of the company with its clients in terms of how much the company includes the client to be an active participant to the company's sustainability policies.
4. Socio-economic environment: It evaluates the identification and interaction with the surrounding communities, analyzing the degree of the companies contribution to their growth and development.
The CST program provides a system of "sustainability levels", on a scale from 0 to 5, in which each number indicates the relative position that a company complies with determined sustainability standards.
The CST represents a new element of competitiveness, where products are differentiated based on the sustainable practices in the company. It encourages the right management in the use of resources in the company by saving water, using energy efficiently, and having a positive impact in the environment. For tourists and customers, it is a guarantee that the company implements programs and plans to minimize its negative impacts on the environment and the community.

The Commercial Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism is a problem that affects all countries. This problem is caused by locals or foreigners who travel to the country as tourists or travelers for this purpose. The Commercial Sexual exploitation is the use of minors, with or without their consent, for the sexual gratification of adults in exchange for money or any other good. Children, who are involved in this problem, are not guilty, they are victims.
The Tourism World’s Code of Ethics was issued by the World Tourism Organization and consists of a scheme to ensure the sustainability of tourism and reduce its negative impact in all destinations, by setting clear rules that apply for all countries. Its main purpose is that all countries fight and punish strictly this crime.
